This is one of the oldest edifices in town. The hospital was build for the port to the quarantine purposes. The main building known as the Compass Building was meant for the navy and could hold up to 30 patients.
The last overhaul happened back in 1917 which can be seen from the distance…
Prominent physicians worked here: N.Pirogov in 1856 through 1858, N.Sklifosovskiy in 1859 through 1870.
The building was erected in 1802 through 1806 (other sources put it as 1804-1807, or 1806-1812) in the classic style. The architect was Jean-Francois Thomas de Thomon.
