Pushkinskaya is one of the most beautiful streets in Odessa. The famous poet lived here in 1823-1824 in the Hotel du Nord. The street name was Italyanskaya then. Now there is a museum dedicated to the poet in the former hotel. The building was partially destroyed during the Second World War but rebuilt later.
Unfortunately, no one knows the room where A.Pushkin lived when he stayed at the hotel. Likewise, there are no exhibits that actually belonged to the poet. All the paintings and scripts are copies. Things like books, furniture may be of the same period but are not those used by Pushkin.
Pushkin wrote 30 lyrics and a poem (The Roma), finished another poem (Bahchisaray Fountain) and a couple of chapters from Yevgeniy Onegin, so he did not waste time here.
The museum was opened in 1961.
